Proxy SG™ 400 Series Overview
Secure proxy appliances for distributed
enterprise deployments
Remote office and branch offices (ROBO) are vital
for organisations conducting business across the
country or around the world. To ensure a safe and
productive Web environment, remote locations require
the same level of Internet control as headquarter
and data centre locations. However, because onsite
technical support staff is not always available,
ROBO sites need a solution that is easy to install,
configure and maintain-even remotely.
While many organisations have taken control of Web
communications at headquarter locations, they face a
growing number of issues resulting from
telecommuters and remote offices. The ROBO site,
however, has always presented a unique problem for
IT administrators. Controlling Web communications
from these locations has become the new challenge
for distributed enterprises. Administrators grapple
with the tasks of installing, configuring and
managing secure networks in remote branch offices
where IT professionals are generally scarce, and
dedicated communication links are difficult and
expensive to maintain. A primary goal of IT is to
reduce costs to support ROBO users and applications
while increasing security and control.
The Blue Coat ProxySG™ 400 Series appliances are
designed to increase control over remote and branch
office Web communications while reducing the costs
associated with distributed deployments. Available
as a rack-mountable or desktop device, the ProxySG
400 platform easily "drops-in" to remote
environments. With its powerful, centralized
management and granular policy capabilities, the
ProxySG 400 allows government, corporate and
educational organizations with distributed locations
to secure, control and monitor all Web
communications-including such applications such as
instant messaging and rich media content-at all
remote and branch office sites. Combined with Blue
Coat's Director and Reporter products, the SG400
provides the foundation for comprehensive ROBO
control.
